Dr. Lee Roberson served as pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee for more than forty years. The church’s philosophy was built upon the Great Commission; indeed, the message, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” spanned the wall above the large choir. Church attendance averaged more than 10,000 souls during the 1970’s. The church supported a large bus ministry, fifty branch churches, two city missions, a free summer camp for children called Camp Joy, plus hundreds of missionaries. The church also operated a Baptist education center known as Tennessee Temple University (3,500 students at the time of my graduation in 1979). This ministry will be remembered in history as one of God’s greatest works of the 20th century.
